STEINHÄUSER Georg
Georg STEINHÄUSER was born in Bavaria in 1876.
He came with his family to Ettelbruck around 1881. His father Kaspar STEINHÄUSER (1850 – 1932) was a Kaufmann.
In 1890 Georges started an apprenticeship as Schneider-Lehrling and left Ettelbruck mid-1894 for Bavaria to follow an Ausbildung zum Militärschneider. According to the Ettelbruck Census of December 1895, Georges STEINHÄUSER was still resident in Bavaria at the time.
In 1900 he married Régine WEIS in Ettelbruck; his occupation was recorded as Gastwirth. He had taken over a Café in the rue de Bastogne in Ettelbruck. His wife Régine WEIS, born in Hautcharage, moved to Ettelbruck to join her husband in the Café.
Georges STEINHÄUSER developed additional professional activities, first as Fahrradhändler and later as Mechaniker.
In May 1912 he formed a business association with Adonis NOBLECOURT, born in France. Less than a year later, in January 1913, the associates admitted having financial problems and called for a meeting of creditors, prior to bankruptcy (Präventivfallimentskonkordat). As a precautionary measure, STEINHÄUSER’s wife Régine applied for the marital regime of Gütertrennung.
The STEINHÄUSER-NOBLECOURT partnership was dissolved.
STEINHÄUSER carried on his activities as Gastwirth and Fahrradhändler in Ettelbruck. Georg STEINHÄUSER died in Ettelbruck in 1937 (Cafetier, Président de l’Union Cycliste du Nord d’Ettelbruck).
The STEINHÄUSER café (Café des Sports) was sold by auction in October 1938.
