WAHL Jean Michel

Jean Michel WAHL was born in Senningen in 1861. His father Georges was an Ackerer.
At birth, WAHL was registered as Michel and he later added Jean to his first name.
The family moved to Hollerich, where father Georges WAHL became a Seifensiederarbeiter (soap maker). In 1880 Jean Michel’s occupation was Geschäftsbote. He left home in the early 1880s to take up residence in Mondorf where he was acting as Schreiber in 1885, probably in a local notary’s office.
In 1888 Jean Michel married Susanna KNEPPER in Frisange. He still resided in Mondorf, and his occupation was recorded in the Marriage Register as Notarsgehülfe (notary assistant).
In 1889 he set up a wine import business in Mondorf, primarily for Portuguese wines. In the same year he moved it to Luxembourg-Gare and moved with his family to Hollerich.
When the couple’s first child was born in 1889 in Hollerich, Jean Michel’s occupation was Geschäftsunternehmer. In 1890 he no longer advertised his products.
The second child was born in 1894 in Cattenom (FR). Jean Michel’s occupation was Notariatssekretär.
By 1900, when a third child was born, the family had moved to Arlon where Jean Michel’s occupation was inspecteur d’assurances.
In1902, Jean Michel filed a patent application in Luxembourg, giving Merl (Hollerich) as his place of residence.
In 1909 he left the family home, and his wife filed a request for “séparation des biens”. He was at the time inspecteur d’assurances and the family resided in Larochette.
Jean Michel WAHL died in Paris (10e arr.) on 5 October 1922. The Paris Death Register reads as follows:

Le 5 octobre 1922, neuf heures trente, est décédé en son domicile, impasse des Marais 9, Jean-Pierre Wahl né à Niederanven (Luxembourg) le vingt six novembre mille huit cent soixante-quatre, comptable; fils de Georges Wahl et de Marguerite Theisen époux décédés, époux de … (sans renseignements). Dressé le cinq octobre mille neuf cent vingt-deux, seize heures; sur la déclaration de Régine Guédé, quarante deux ans, femme de ménage, même adresse et de François Litalien, cinquante-cinq ans …

WAHL died as Jean Pierre (!) WAHL, without the support of his family …
