SOISSON Jean Pierre

Jean Pierre SOISSON was born in Lorentzweiler in 1875. His father’s occupation was Schmelzer.
He studied at the “Athénée” and in 1900 he obtained an engineering degree at the “Ecoles Spéciales de Louvain”.
He started his career as engineer in the Dudelange steelworks where he worked between 1900 and 1903.
The following four years he spent in Belgian steelworks and in 1907 he took on a position in China (Hanyang) within the Luxembourg team of China pioneer Eugène RUPPERT.
SOISSON came back to Luxembourg in 1911 for a break, but the Chinese revolution prevented him for returning to his post in China.
From 1911 to 1918 he worked in Spain (Malaga). In the following years he took on special assignments in China and in South America. As of 1923 he set up the “Companhia Mécanica” steelworks in Brazil (Sao Paolo).
In 1928 his health deteriorated and he came back to Luxembourg.
Jean Pierre SOISSON died in 1930 in Lorentzweiler. He never married.
