KÖRWIEN Frédéric
Frédéric Christian KÖRWIEN was born in Saxony. His father was Mühlenbesitzer in Mahlitzsch (Sachsen). KÖRWIEN later spelled his name as KÖRVIN, KÖRWIN or KOERVIN …
KÖRWIEN must have come to Luxembourg around 1860; his occupation was Instrumentenfabrikant.
In 1861 he resided with the BEFFORT family (tisserands) in Pfaffenthal (Vauban Strasse 49). He was a lodger with the family and conceived a child with Anne BEFFORT, daughter of the house.
KÖRWIEN left Pfaffenthal to reside in Luxembourg-city (Eicher Gasse 13), where the couple’s daughter Anna Theresia was born.
He declared the birth of Anna Theresia to the Registrar of Luxembourg-city and Anna BEFFORT was registered as mother and declared ehelos.
In 1864 KÖRWIEN lived on his own in Vauban Gasse 59. Anna BEFFORT no longer formed part of her family in Vauban Gasse 49.
The couple KÖRWIEN-BEFFORT, however, married in Luxembourg-city in 1865 and legitimised their daughter Anna Theresia.
They returned to Vauban Gasss 49 to live with Anna’s family.
In 1871 the family resided in Luxembourg-Pfaffenthal (Vauban Gasse 59) and by 1880 Frédéric KÖRWIEN had taken over the Lindenmühle in Hollerich-Merl.
Around 1885 KÖRWIEN left Hollerich-Merl and founded a Sägewerk/Getreidemühle in the Schleifmühle in Lintgen. He died there in 1893. His wife Anna BEFFORT put the mill up for sale in the same year.
She died in 1927 in Luxembourg-city.
