FABER Léon

Paul Georges Léon FABER was born in 1891 in Luxembourg-city (2 boulevard Joseph II). His father’s occupation was Post-Inspector.
Léon FABER studied law and in 1918 became a notary in Wiltz. Soon after, in 1920, he was appointed notary in Feulen.
In August 1921 he married Madeleine SCHAACK, born in Wiltz.
In 1928 he was appointed notary in Niederkerschen.
Léon FABER was declared bankrupt in July 1934. Some of his assets were sold in a public auction in 1938 but it took up to 1956 for the relevant procedure to be completed and closed!
Léon FABER was not the inventor of the two patents he owned, one in Luxembourg and the corresponding patent in France.
The inventor was called BOERNER Gustav Adolf (Arno), born in Germany in 1875.
He was an engineer who claimed in 1909 to having invented a new type of aircraft. (see Addendum) He tried to convince the US and British authorities to invest into developing the aircraft. It would appear that the project was not viable. BOERNER continued to make inventions and filing patent applications in various fields.
In 1932 he invented a new method for transmitting sound waves and filed two corresponding patent applications in Switzerland. He sold the invention to a consortium of investors who founded a holding company in Luxembourg to exploit the invention. Léon FABER registered the company under the name of “Société Onde Sonore”. (The only asset of the company was a single invention with an estimated value of LUF 5.000.000.)
Léon FABER took on the responsibility of filing corresponding patents in Luxembourg and France, in his own name!
There is no evidence that the company was successful and that additional corresponding patents were obtained in major countries, as planned.
It is probable that the failure of “Société Onde Sonore” also contributed to FABER’s bankruptcy.
It is not known when and where Léon FABER died.
