Johann Julius ELTER was born in 1890 in Luxembourg-city (7 rue Aldringer). His father Johann Peter (Eugen) ELTER, was a Hufschmied.
He later became a Wagenfabrikant, carrossier. Jean Jules joined his father’s business as mécanicien.
In 1917 he married Caroline SCHANEN in Luxembourg-city.
In 1920 he created the “Société Jules Elter et Cie.” in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg (associate Paul MICHEL, industriel):

la société a pour objet la fabrication de voitures et d’articles analogues

The company went bankrupt in 1922.
Jules and his wife Caroline moved to Brussels, but the latter abandoned him and returned to Luxembourg; in 1922 she requested “séparation de biens” from her husband.
In 1933 Jules ELTER was back in Luxembourg where he opened a “Technisches Bureau” in Luxemburg-Merl (3 Hubertus-Strasse). He resided in rue Giselbert. He advertised the sale of electronic apparatus for optimising radio reception signals.
In 1935 he also re-activated his activity as Transportgerätfabrik.
In 1938 he created the company “JELUX”:

antennes pour T.S.F., articles pour le déparasitage en T.S.F.

He divorced Caroline SCHANEN in 1943 and married Anne Marie KRIER.
After WW II, Jean Jules ELTER started another company for “Constructions en bois et métalliques” in 5-7 Mercier-Strasse. He resided in rue Maréchal Foch.
The company took on the name of CONFORTEX in 1946. Its offices were situated in 10 rue Joseph Junck and its manufacturing site in Cessange.
The JELUX company went bankrupt in 1947 and the CONFORTEX company went bankrupt
in 1948.
Jean Jules ELTER died in 1968 in Luxembourg-city.
