DOSTERT Bernard

(1895 - 1974)
Lorentzweiler

The inventor Bernard DOSTERT, born in 1895 in Lorentzweiler, was the grandson of Bernard DOSTERT, born in 1843 in Berbourg. The latter was a Hufschmied in Berbourg and set the basis for the DOSTERT family company in Hunsdorf/Lorentzweiler.
Bernard DOSTERT (senior) married Maria SCHMIT (b. 1839 in Hunsdorf, daughter of a Taglöhner). The couple settled in Hunsdorf where Bernard (senior) offered his services as Hufschmied.
Bernard and Maria had 4 sons:
Jean (b. 1866), Jean Pierre (b. 1869), François (b. 1874) and Michel (b. 1877).
They joined the family business which took on the name of ”DOSTERT frères”.
In 1938 the DOSTERT company took on the name of “Atelier mécanique Dostert”. Its partners were François DOSTERT-WEBER (1874), Bernard DOSTERT (b. 1895), Jean Pierre DOSTERT-BINTNER (b. 1899) and Jean Pierre DOSTERT-SAVAROC (b. 1910), all four qualified as Schlosser- und Elektromeister.
François was one of the original “DOSTERT frères” partners while the other three partners were sons of the original partners (see family tree in Addendum).
The present inventor, Bernard DOSTERT, was the son of Jean DOSTERT (b. 1866).
Bernard died in 1974 in Steinsel. He had remained single.
