DELVAUX-SCHARLÉ Nicolas

Nicolas DELVAUX was born in Altrier/Bech in 1882. His father was a Hufschmied.
In 1914 he married Barbara SCHARLÉ in Steinfort. His occupation was Schlossermeister.
His older brother, also called Nicolas (1880-1965), married in 1891 Marguerite HAUSEMER, born in Nospelt. At the time Nicolas (the elder) was living in Steinfort and his occupation was Hufschmied/Schlossermeister.
Initially the brothers created an association and offered the services of a Schlosser in Steinfort. They later separated (1928?) and created each their own company using their wives’ family names as a distinguishing mark: DELVAUX-HAUSEMER, respectively DELVAUX-SCHARLÉ.
The former company developed into a national and international enterprise for constructions métalliques (Metallkonstruktionen) while the latter company offered their traditional services at a local level only.
The DELVAUX-SCHARLÉ company closed in the 1960s. The couple’s only son had died in 1934 at the age of 17.
Nicolas DELVAUX-SCHARLÉ died in 1962 in Steinfort.
