BRÜCK Hubert
Hubertus BRÜCK was born in Weiswampach. His father’s occupation was Brigadier der Gendarmerie.
He became Commis bei der Generalstaastanwaltschaft and took a keen interest in sténographie (shorthand writing).
In 1885 he resided in Luxembourg-city (Arlonerstrasse). He married Margaretha MEYER in 1886, and the couple BRÜCK-MEYER took up residence in Neutorstrasse (1890) and later in Grossstrasse 40 (1895).
BRÜCK invented a stenographic “SCRABBLE ®” game in 1901 which he patented only in Switzerland.
BRÜCK published between 1910 and 1952 many instruction books on shorthand writing.
In 1924 he retired from civil service.
He died in 1949 at the age of 90 in his residence in Arlonerstrasse. His death announcement read:
Monsieur Hubert BRUCK époux de Dinah Dove
Secrétaire honoraire du Parquet,
Officier de l’Ordre de la Couronne de Chêne,
Officier, avec couronne, de l’Ordre Adolphe de Nassau,
Officier de l’instruction Publique, etc
BRÜCK was married twice but had no children.
