SCHMITZ Robert

Robert SCHMITZ was born in 1881 in Rockershausen/Saarland. He became a Schlosser, and in 1905 he married Catharine Pauline RHEIN, born in Remich in 1883. He still resided in his home town at the time.
By 1906 the couple had settled in Grevenmacher where their first child was born.
In 1909 Robert launched a regular bus service between Wasserbillig and Ehnen.
He became a Mechaniker, and in 1927 he set up a bicycle shop in Grevenmacher.
Around 1940 he closed his shop.
Robert SCHMITZ and his wife tragically died in 1953 in their home in Grevenmacher (see Addendum). In the death announcement, the family referred to him as maître-mécanicien diplômé.
