HEIN Pierre
Pierre HEIN was born in 1879 in Puttelange-lès-Thionville (FR), son of a Maurer.
In 1904 he married Mélanie VEIBLER, born in Haute Parthe (FR). Pierre’s occupation was also Maurer.
Judging from their children’s birth dates, the couple HEIN-VEIBLER must have settled in Bettembourg around 1910. Pierre’s father Nicolas HEIN (1850 – 1907) had founded a company in 1882 for building baking-ovens in Hagondange (FR). The company was transferred to Bettembourg in 1910 and managed by Pierre HEIN.
In 1911 HEIN’s name appeared for the first time in a Luxembourg publication, his occupation was indicated as Reisender.
In 1913 his wife Mélanie WEIBELER (=VEIBLER) founded a company under the name of HEIN-WEIBELER (Unternehmungen). Pierre HEIN, Bauunternehmer, was its Prokurist.
In 1914 HEIN launched a Backofenbaugeschäft under the name “Firma P. Hein-Weibeler”:
Als langjähriger erfahrener Fachmann der Backofenbranche bin ich soweit vorgeschritten, daß ich sämtl. Backofenbaufen nur unter Garantie herstelle; gebe jedem Kunden sowohl auf Material wie auf meine Arbeit eine schriftliche Garantie von 20 Jahren und zahle das Doppelte wieder zurück, wenn meine Backöfen nicht ausgezeichnete Funktion beweisen.
HEIN’s agressive advertising campaign was not appreciated by one of his competitors, Nic WAGNER, who treated him as “ausländische Firma”. (see also Addendum)
Pierre HEIN (constructeur de fours) died in 1933 in Bettembourg. His widow Mélanie WEIBLER (1883 – 1959) managed the family business until 1937, when son Ferdinand HEIN (1911-1982) took over.
