EVELING Pierre

(1901 - 1971)
Dudelange

Pierre EVELING was born in 1901 in Dudelange. His father Mathias was of German origin (born in Dahlem/Spangdahlem). The latter immigrated to Luxembourg in 1899, became Machinist in Dudelange and married Caroline HOFF of Eischen in 1900.
The couple set up their first home in Dudelange and later moved to Eischen. They had ten children.
Pierre EVELING was the second oldest child and trained to become a Schlosser.
In August 1930 he founded the company Office de Publicité « Crephé » and published the following announcement:

Office de Publicité „Crephé“ Eischen, Luxemburg, Internationales Office für Gewerbe, Handel, Industrie und Privatreklame, für alle Gewerbe und Geschäftsbranchen, Internationale Neuheiten, Patente, Marken usw.

At the time, he made a number of inventions for which he obtained patents in Luxembourg.

Around 1935 he married Maria MATHIEU (b. 1908 in Ell). They had one daughter, born in 1937.
In 1937 he took part in an international competition for inventors in Paris and was awarded a bronze medal.
It would appear that in the 1940s EVERLING also set up an atelier de tricotage in Eischen.
In the 1950s and 1960s he made inventions which he patented in Luxembourg and in Germany. At least two of these inventions led to a commercial success. (see Addendum)
Pierre EVELING died in 1971 in Eischen.
