ALTENHOVEN Hubert

Hubert ALTENHOVEN was born as Hubert ALTENHOFEN in Hollerich in 1904. His father was a Lokomotivführer.
He passed the examen de passage at the Luxembourg Ecole industrielle et commerciale (section industrielle) in 1922 and qualified as ingénieur-technicien around 1926.
In March 1931 he associated with Charles JANIK to found the company “Janik & Altenhoven, Vertrieb Elektrischer Apparate für Haushalt und Gewerbe”:

Die Gesellschaft hat den Zweck elektrische Apparate und einschlägige Artikel an Wiederverkäufer und direkt an Konsumenten zu vertreiben, beziehungsweise Vertretungen von einschlägigen Firmen zu übernehmen.

The company operated under the commercial names of “Elektro-Oekonom” and “Eltron” in 112, rue de Bonnevoie (Luxembourg-city). It was liquidated in November 1934.
In 1930 ALTENHOVEN obtained two patents in Luxembourg and one in France for a novel accumulateur à zinc and in May 1932 he created his own company, presumably for commercialising his invention. The object of the company was:

Fabrication et réparation d’accumulateurs électriques

Later in life he joined the company “Anciens Etablissements Paul Wurth”.
Hubert ALTENHOVEN died in Luxembourg-city in 1974.
