August Wilhelm BEYSE (BEISE) was born in Hermannsthal (Pommern) and joined the Prussian army, which brought him in 1819 to the fortress of Koblenz.
In 1828 BEYSE was assigned to the Luxembourg fortress as lieutenant du génie au service prussien (preußischer Ingenieur Premier-Lieutenant).
BEYSE developed an improved oven which he described in his publication of 1827 entitled “Wirklich holzersparende Feueranlagen”.
His son Oskar was born in Luxembourg in 1829.
BEYSE stayed in Luxembourg until 1834 when he returned to Koblenz. He left the Prussian army in 1837 and took on a number of engineering positions in Germany.
In 1848 he acted as leader of the revolution movement in Breslau and finally he escaped to the U.S.A. around 1852 to avoid facing charges for his role in the Breslau uprising.
BEYSE died in Gasconade (Missouri) in 1852.
