LINSTER Jean Baptiste
Jean Baptiste LINSTER was born in Dalheim in 1864. His father’s occupation was Ackerer.
He became Lehrer and took on a teaching post in Kopstal in the 1880s.
In 1890 he married Marie Madeleine REICHLING in Esch sur Alzette. The couple settled in Kopstal where Jean Baptiste already resided.
Around 1900 Jean Baptiste LINSTER quit his teaching job and became secrétaire communal in Kopstal and around 1906 he opened a bookshop in Luxembourg-Gare. He called himself Lehrmittel- und Buchhändler.
JEAN Baptiste LINSTER (libraire, instituteur et secrétaire communal en retraite) died in 1922 in Luxembourg-city (rue Elisabeth 31).
(In 1920 Jean Baptiste’s son Aloyse Jean LINSTER (b. 1895) took over the family business which was located in Luxembourg-city, rue Glesener (first at n° 28 and later at n° 13). The company’s activities gradually changed over from librairie to papéterie. In 1964 the descendants of Aloyse carried on the business which they transferred in 2006 to Bertrange. The trading name became “Linster bureautique”.)
