KNAFF Albert (Jr)
Albert KNAFF was the son of Albert Victor KNAFF (1859-1935) and was presumably born in Wissem (DE) where his father took up in 1898 the position of director of the company “Van der Zypen & Wissener”.
Albert KNAFF (Jr), like his father, studied engineering in Aachen where he qualified as Maschinenbau-Ingenieur around 1923.
Up to 1927 he worked in the ARBED steelworks in Dudelange and around 1929 he joined the “Spiegelglassfabrik Germania” in Porz am Rhein, a subsidiary of the Belgian company “Société Anonyme des Glaces Nationales-Belges à St Roch-Auvelais-les-Namur”. In 1932 KNAFF became director of the company.
By 1945 KNAFF had joined the mother company in Brussels which had taken on the name of “Glaceries de St Roch”. He ended his professional career in the company as administrateur-délégué.
Around 1952 KNAFF left “Glaceries St Roch” and acted as independent consulting engineer with residence in Brussels (Rhode-St Genèse). In 1958 he assigned his last invention to “Siemens-Schuckertwerke” (Erlangen).
KNAFF died in Nice in February 1969, but was buried in Luxembourg-city.
His death announcement stated:
