JUNCK Marcel

Marcel Albert JUNCK was born in 1905 in Helmdange (Lorentzweiler) where his father was a Förster.
In 1921 JUNCK passed his final examination at the “Staats-Handwerkerschule” in the section Bauhandwerk.
In 1926 he joined “Schaeffer & Co., Ofenbau für Industrie- und Hüttenwerke” and in 1931 he took on a position in the gas works of the City of Luxembourg and became the works’ Fabrikationschef in 1951. He retired towards the end of 1964.
His professional career has been summarised as follows:

Im Jahre 1931 in die Dienste des städtischen Gaswerkes Luxemburg-Grund eingetreten, verfügte Herr Junck bereits über alles Können und Wissen eines erfahrenen Gasfachmannes, als welcher er von 1926 bis 1931 bei der Firma Schaeffer & Co. Ofenbau für Industrie- und Hüttenwerke, als Büro­chef tätig war.
Als im Oktober 1943 das Werk Grund stillgelegt wurde und die gesamte Gasproduktion vom Werk Hollerich aufge­bracht werden mußte, fand Herr Junck in Hollerich ein noch größeres Betäti­gungsfeld mit der weitaus größeren Verantwortung eines Betriebsleiters vor.

From 1955-1963 Marcel JUNCK served as bourgmestre of Walferdange and died there in September 1965, less than one year after his retirement.
