NOBLECOURT Adonis

(1856 - )
Saint-Martin-Rivière (FR)

Adonis Joseph NOBLECOURT was born in France (Aisne) in 1856. He became a tisseur and joined the French military in 1877. He was released from the army in 1902.
In May 1912 Adonis NOBLECOURT formed a business association with Georg STEINHÄUSER in Ettelbruck. Less than a year later, in January 1913, the associates admitted having financial problems and called for a meeting of creditors, prior to bankruptcy (Präventivfallimentskonkordat). The STEINHÄUSER-NOBLECOURT partnership was dissolved.
In January 1913 NOBLECOURT married Caroline WOLFF, daughter of a Kutschenvermieter in Diekirch. He resided in Ettelbruck and his occupation was Mechaniker.
NOBLECOURT started his own business in Diekirch and published the following advertisement in February 1914:

Automobiles Noblecourt, Diekirch

Later in the year he must have left Luxembourg, as he is reported to have joined the French army at the beginning of WW I. It would appear that NOBLECOURT never returned to Luxembourg and settled in France. (He obtained a French patent in 1930 as resident of the département de la Seine.) His wife Caroline WOLFF, however, returned to Luxembourg in later years.
She had lost her Luxembourgish citizenship (which she recovered in 1950).
Caroline WOLFF died in Diekirch in 1963. The death notice was not made public by her family but by “les amies éplorées”.
It is not known when and where Adonis NOBLECOURT died.
